UPDATE SEPT 2014 Hannah Rose is now sharing a rented studio with Brett Piva from Pocket Design at 754 Hunter St West. Simone Darcy has a studio at Newcastle university.

DARCY+ROSE is a collaboration between award winning local photographers Simone Darcy and Hannah Rose. The studio will be a workspace for the two, where they can also hold workshops and the occasional exhibition.

The duo have created photography workshops to suit all levels and ages, from complete beginners to more specialised industry focused. The workshops are a product of the inspiration they find from sharing knowledge, inspiring and arming people with the tools to create and take control of their work. The workshops run parallel with the photographer’s own commercial and personal image making, keeping them on their toes.

DARCY+ROSE aim to deliver amazing imagery to their clients and to ensure their students are capable of taking excellent photos and feel part of a photography community. Empowering and inspiring them to get out and make beautiful pictures.

The focus on bringing positive changes to Newcastle alongside the support and oppurtunites for creatives was the reason DARCY+ROSE approached Renew Newcastle looking for a home. “We were inspired by the creative activation of the otherwise forgotten corners around the city, and the positive outcomes that have emerged as a result.”

Tell us about the space itself:

The studio we have through Renew is a perfect fit for us. We will be using the space to shoot our own commercial and personal works and to run our new workshops. We want the space to be filled with all things photography and anyone who wants to learn about photography!
