UPDATE APR 2014 Rollingball Productions have signed a commercial lease in the space they have activated since their project began in 2011. Congratulations to Paul, April and team!

Rollingball is a team of creative professionals who specialise in all aspects of film and television production. The core team is made up of Director Paul Donnelly, Producer April Howard and Production Manager and Stylist, Lainey Donnelly.

We partner with sound and animation professionals to produce small and large scale projects for our clients. After working in the industry in Australia and the UK for many years before going out on our own in 2009, we have based our business in the creative and evolving hub of Newcastle to service clients locally and nationally.

What do you do?

We work with clients direct and partner with agencies to provide the following film and television executions:

• Corporate documentaries • Webisodes • Broadcast and online TVC’s • Training, OH&S and induction videos • Podcasts

Our complete service provision includes:

• Creative concepts and direction • Script writing • Talent selection and management • Direction of photography • Art direction • Set and talent styling • Editing • Video and TVC distribution

As part of our business, we also specialise in fashion styling and event management by working with clients to provide the following:

• Celebrity styling • Corporate and personal styling for individuals or groups • Fashion event management • Art direction for film and photographic shoots • Fashion and costume design • Set design and construction

What inspired you to get involved in Renew Newcastle?

We have been observing the Renew Newcastle journey since its inception and since then, we’ve witnessed talented individuals and enterprises create significant projects within spaces in the city’s CBD.

As our team and business has grown over the past 18 months, we required a larger space in which to operate and believe Rollingball’s approach is aligned to what Renew Newcastle represents: creativity, collaboration and nurturing the talent and opportunity that exists within the region. The result is a fantastic opportunity for Rollingball to develop our business, employ local industry professionals and at the same time, breathe life back into a space in the city.

What are you doing in your new space?

We are establishing a headquarters for the Rollingball team to operate our day-to-day business and develop creative projects. We would invite anyone who would like to work with us to email us at [email protected]

To our knowledge, our space which is behind Il Volcano and next to The Store was used as a sound recording studio in its previous life. The Rollingball team was set the charter of renovating the office before operating from the premises. So, after a lot of elbow grease and long hours painting and scraping, it’s been reinvigorated and is ready for a new chapter.
