Who are you?
I am Tynan Fairhall AKA the Red Beard Baron; I have always been a tinkerer and maker of anything and everything that takes my interest, a Hunter region local I have spent most of my life in the area. If it’s handmade I’m a fan. I have no real formal education in art but love to experiment and learn from my betters.
What do you do?
At the moment I specialise in original illustrations and paintings, ranging from portraits to animalia and fantasy, my work has been exhibited locally. I am an avid photographer, focusing mainly on landscape photography of my travels as well as portrait work, some of which has been exhibited locally. In addition to my illustration and painting, I create silver jewellery and precision cut precious and semi-precious gemstones. But wait there is more, I also manufacture polished concrete furniture, with added coloured oxide, crushed glass and semi-precious aggregates.
What inspired you to get involved in Renew Newcastle?
The inspiration to become involved in the Renew project came from my exposure to the emerging local markets and quality and diversity of the craftspeople in the Hunter Region, I would very much like to become a fixture in this landscape.
What are you doing in your new space?
In the space provided to me I will be making bespoke handmade jewellery, crafting hand cut gemstones and working on original illustrations and paintings as well as prints.
The space will be setup to allow for piratical works as well as the display of completed and in works projects.
