Who are you and what do you do?
I’m Kylie Foley and I’m a professional portrait photographer. I specialise in creative photography and I also make hand- made photographs using an early photographic technique from the 1800’s called Wet Plate.
What are you doing in your space?
I’m creating magic with silver and light. I’m using this space to create hand- made portraits for clients and for personal projects. I get to experiment and create exquisite images on tin and glass plates. I hope that as my skills become more defined and advanced I can offer workshops for this alternative photography process now that I have access to a darkroom. I also use this space to meet with clients and art buyers who are interested in my work. And the bonus is I get to network in our shared space with other supportive creatives. It’s a dream come true.
Tell us about the space – what was its previous use? Anything unique about it? Your response to the space?
Our space is huge, I mean amazingly spaciously huge! The amazingly spacious studio with splendid natural light that most photographers can only dream about. ( Don’t wake me).
The studio area has a self-contained kitchen, a gorgeous meeting area in the actual ClockTower to chat about the shoot. So many windows and a balcony to people watch, drink coffee and reflect on my day The opposing space has lots of storage area and where you will find us in our office being very creative and organised.
I get super excited asking people to meet me here. The place is professional and I just love it.
