I’m Jerome, a new Frenchy in Newie!
What do you do?
I am a photographer based in Newcastle. I’m a fairly quiet person by nature and I’ve found that my camera is the best way to tell a story or create a memory. I studied Professional Photography at the Speos Paris Photographic Institute.
What inspired you to get involved in Renew Newcastle?
As I have family in Newcastle I was following Renew Newcastle when I was living in Paris. I love the concept of Renew and it is a great chance to be be part of it and connect with many artists. I have heard about your great project to give film photography a new place in town. It was perfect timing and an opportunity for me as I only use film for my personal work. I shoot mainly urban landscape and street scene. I also work commercially for weddings, family and corporate photography assignments. You can see my commercial work at atelier photography.
Tell us about the space – what was its previous use? Anything unique about it? Your response to the space?
The clocktower is unique and special. The space is well organized and very functional. I use the darkroom to process my films and print my images. I also plan to use the darkroom to organize workshops about pinhole photography.
