What do you do?
I am an artist & I run what used to be Four Point Gallery but is now Eden Art.
What inspired you to get involved in Renew Newcastle?
I have been involved with Renew Newcastle since 2013 when I finished my Fine Art studies at TAFE & responded to a call out for applications. I approached some people I had studied with at TAFE and asked who would be interested in doing something along the lines of a gallery and so Four Point began its journey. The space has been run as a gallery ever since with over 30 exhibitions.
What are you doing in your new space?
Well, the space is still running as a gallery at the moment, which it has been since we opened it, but there are some exciting things lined up for September and October with the space changing and growing to be used as something more than just a gallery.
Tell us about the space – what was its previous use? Anything unique about it?
The space was empty for approximately 10 years before we were shown inside and it took us 7 weeks to renovate… It was soo dirty in there we thought the floors had carpet… But it was just a thick layer of dust and other things. It’s a unique space though, pressed tinned ceilings are my favourite part of it and the walls – they are very unique angles, but it totally works as a gallery space!
