UPDATE JUN 2014 Curve Gallery have now commenced a commercial lease in another location (61 Hunter St, Newcastle) ensuring this popular arts destination remains in the east end of the city.
Australians Wayne Heaton & Lisa Who have established Curve Gallery Newcastle (Australia) as a sister space to Curve Gallery Liverpool (England) which they founded in 2007.
Curve Gallery Liverpool curates and promotes contemporary work and received critical acclaim throughout the 2008 Liverpool European Capital of Culture festival and during successive Liverpool Biennials, the UKs largest contemporary art festival.
Curve Gallery’s art practice and exhibition model is inspired by the ‘galleries without borders ‘ concept with a vision to support, engage and expose artists via a cross-continent platform. Artists can showcase work to new audiences locally and internationally at Curve Gallery Liverpool and vice versa. Curve Gallery Newcastle will also act as a platform for artist talks, presentations, workshops and artist studio.
Curve Gallery’s international program will generate an expansive network of artists and foster opportunities for commissions, collections, residencies and further exhibitions.
Curve Gallery welcomes proposals from artists working across all media and artistic practice.
Curve SHOP features work from past and current exhibitions alongside new products from local and international artists and designers available for purchase. Products include limited edition prints, sculpture, books and contemporary textiles.
Life Drawing Classes are held on the first Sunday of the month from 1 to 5pm. Cost: $40. For more information click here.
