UPDATE
Mark and the team have moved to a new space in the city.  “It has been an exciting period of growth for Anthrosite over the last few months. We moved on from our co-shared ReNew space into a commercial lease with fellow graduates Curious Practice and Curran. Without the opportunity and support provided by Renew it would be hard to imagine being in this position today.” Thanks Mark!

Who are you?
We are Mark Spence and Dana Hutchinson.
Collectively we have gained professional experience in practices of various sizes and on a range of work from high rise commercial towers to prefabricated housing, education and university buildings, commercial interior fit outs and multi residential housing.
At present, our projects are primarily residential alterations/additions and single detached housing. We are interested in creative opportunities of all types, scales and budgets.

What do you do?
Anthrosite is a design based practice with an interest in working collaboratively to create enriching places and spaces for people to find pleasure in going about their daily lives.
We take an interest in many things from refined architectural detailing to basic DIY, from the future of our home town to the pleasure of watching our garden grow. It is a privilege and a goal to be active with our local communities.
We love what we do.

What inspired you to get involved in Renew Newcastle?
We had heard of Renew and visited some of the projects prior to moving to Newcastle. When we moved to Newcastle we began working from home, like so many people do. When a friend suggested forming a collective and applying for a Renew space, we though, why not give it a go! Turned out to be a very inspired decision, we took the step out from the collective to become our own project. We feel very privileged and pleased to have a space to work in the CBD. It’s a good feeling to be a small part of the regeneration of the city centre.

Tell us about the space
Our space is a cellular office, no romantic history. Although a nice view of the King Street multi storey carpark. We designed and constructed a small little fit-out for the space to make it work for us and feel good.

What is great about the space is the shared collection of other Renew studios – Suite 76. Full of more incredible Renew projects making the most amazing stuff!
