Odditorium Vintage & Portrait Parlour
Property Owner: The GPT Group
Basement, 14 Thorn St Newcastle
Odditorium is a galleria, portrait parlour and retail store managed by Naomi Saunders and is located in the basement of 14 Thorn Street Newcastle.
Naomi Saunders is a Novocastrian photographer, fashion stylist and avid collector of oddities and vintage wares, as well as being a mother of almost 2.
Coming from a long line of small business owners in the Newcastle city precinct – stemming from Tyrrells Recordland, Est 1925 to father Bruce Saunders' current King Street institution Antique Sounds – the Renew Newcastle objective of pumping life back into the city lies close to her heart.
Odditorium Vintage & Portrait Parlour has a focus on eras past. The galleria houses ever changing installations made up of items from Naomi’s many collections and will also have local featured artists.
The retail store has artwork, handmade and altered fashions and textiles, vintage clothes, jewellery, odds & ends and bric a brac, made and found by local artisans for sale.
You can come and peruse our vintage finerys and dress yourself up for a picture taken in our portrait parlour amongst our retro decor.
The basement space was previously a jewellers and – with its wood and glass panels and very own antique safe – it has loads of charm and character and is a perfect home for Odditorium.
