Renew Newcastle is supported by NSW Government through the Department of Trade & Investment, Regional Infrastructure & Services (DTIRIS) via two grants programs.
Our Creative Enterprise Incubation & Development (CEID) project 2010-11 – providing professional development opportunities for our projects – is co-funded by City of Newcastle and DTIRIS through its Community Economic Development Program. Significant organisational funding for our ongoing Living City program of activities 2011-2014 is provided through its Enterprising Regions Program.

Hunter Development Corporation (HDC) supports Renew Newcastle’s interventions to bring economic, cultural and aesthetic improvements to Newcastle’s CBD, via a sponsorship for our Living City program of activities 2011-2014.

GPT are Renew Newcastle’s first major property partner. GPT own a range of properties within the Newcastle CBD and are working with Renew Newcastle to ensure that these properties are utilised to the best of their ability as they prepare for a major Newcastle CBD retail project. Renew Newcastle is assisted by the NSW Government through Arts NSW.
Funding has been granted for 2009-2010, to assist with staffing and organisational development; in 2011 for project funding via the Strategic Industry Investment grants; and in 2012 toward’s Renew Newcastle’s annual program of activities.

The City of Newcastle supports Renew Newcastle through the City Revitalisation category of its Community Grants and Sponsorship Program, offering funding for 2009-10, 2010-11 and 2011-12 financial years. The City of Newcastle has also co-funded with NSW Dept Trade & Investment the 2010-11 Creative Enterprise Incubation & Development (CEID) project – a professional development program for Renew Newcastle creative projects.

Newcastle Now is a new organisation representing business, property owners and the community of Newcastle’s CBD. Newcastle Now is a not-for-profit Business Improvement Association – independent, representing its members and closely affiliated with the City of Newcastle, working for the mutual goals of prosperity, pleasing surrounds and vitality of cultural and community life. Sparke Helmore has supported Renew Newcastle from its inception with invaluable pro bono legal advice through their SHARE program.

APP Northern NSW are leading specialist Project and Development Management consultants and advisors. APP is supporting Renew Newcastle by providing Pro Bono advice and assistance in regard to compliance works that are required to bring vacant commercial premises up to current Building Code standard and by providing Project and Development Management services for premises requiring Development Consent for a change of use and significant upgrade works.

EJE Architecture is a multi-disciplinary design practice providing professional services & design creative solutions for the built environment. They offer professional services in Architecture, Town Planning, Heritage Architecture & Interior Design. EJE has assisted Renew Newcastle with the design for a change of use of vacant commercial buildings in the Hunter Mall and support the work of Renew Newcastle in rejuvenating the Newcastle CBD. Renew Newcastle worked with Ipera to establish free wi-fi around key Renew Newcastle sites in the Hunter Street Mall, and Ipera provides a premium free internet service for Renew Newcastle projects.

In September 2010 Renew Newcastle and GPT were awarded the Toyota Community Partnership of the Year in NSW for partnerships “between businesses and arts and cultural organisations that enhance the life of communities”. Read more about the award here.
We were commended with the Australia Business Arts Foundation (ABAF) stamp of approval for Good Practice In Partnering, recognition given to nominations that judges deem as meeting a high standard in relation to the judging criteria.
