The Emporium Opening

21 November 2012 | Posted in: News

After much planning, construction and painting Renew Newcastle is thrilled to announce that The Emporium will open from 10am Thursday 22 November within the former David Jones building on Hunter Street.

We have reconfigured part of the ground floor to present a fine arcade of boutiques and galleries filled with Newcastle creative talent, ensuring one of Newcastle’s most glorious retail buildings is active once more.

Projects include:

Tickle & Hide, tutti-frutti reversible children’s clothing by Jodi Godfrey.

Cashmere & Silk, fine quality lingerie & sleepwear by Janet Steele.

Jzhonnie Bechet, glam-eco-art-fashion by Jzhonnie Holloway

Miss Lulu, 1950’s inspired fashion for modern day pin-ups by Brianna Brent.

It’s About Time, otherworldly clock sculptures by Karl Claydon.

Smack Bang, pop paintings & paraphenalia by Sophia Flegg.

The Business Who’s Who of Australia, drawings by Susan Te Kahurangi King.

Cabinet of Curiosities, installations by Renew Newcastle boutiques Make Space, Strip of a Lifetime and Odditorium.

The Galleria, revolving exhibitions by Renew Newcastle studio artists Grant Hunter & Sarah Mould; Natalickit Sticks-it & Paper Kitschen; David Hampton; and Sam Hughes.

Plus our site design features hand rendered ‘wonder wall’ of interactive designs thanks to our friends Zookraft and Pocket Design with added visual displays from Hunter Design School.
