Invitation - Award winning animation [07.11.2011]

Jane Shadbolt’s short animation The Cartographer will make its Newcastle screen debut this Thursday 10 November at University of Newcastle.

Featuring Paula Arundell, Joel Edgerton and Toby Moore, this exquisite 11 minute animation took four years to create, two of them from a Renew Newcastle studio space.

The Cartographer won in the Design and Visual Effects categories of the Australian Production Design Guild awards in September, and will screen at several international film festivals this year.

Join us to celebrate Jane’s achievements at the first screening in Newcastle this Thursday 10 November. Starts 4pm. There will be nibblies and Q+A with the writer/director/animator Jane Shadbolt.

A girl adrift in a storm in a sea of letters finds herself tossed into a world of mysterious motives, uncertain geography and desperate times. Polly has mapped the entire world. Almost. There is one last, lost city to go. But to know this place is to destroy it and this city’s residents have other plans.

Polly has to decide what’s where, what’s right and how to get out.
