Propose a Project

EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST NOW CLOSED

DEADLINE CLOSED FRIDAY 9 MARCH 2012 12PM

Renew Newcastle has just closed an application round to be part of our ongoing city revitalisation program.

But I have an idea – how can I tell someone about it and make an application?

If you have an idea for an arts, creative, cultural or community project suited to office space or shopfront space, you will have to hold onto it at this time – we can’t accept your application at the moment.

When is the next deadline for applications?

We don’t have set dates for new Applications, it depends on when we get access to new properties or if we have exhausted the pool of projects already on our “books”. An approximate guide is 3-6months between application rounds.

How do I know when Applications are open?

Best way to keep in touch with opportunities is to sign up to our e-newsletter (via the website) as we will promote opportunities to make an application through the newsletter. We will also promote this via Facebook and through other networks.

GENERAL PROPOSAL GUIDELINES

Renew Newcastle is open to artists, artisans, craftspeople, creative enterprises or community groups with ideas for projects that could take place in vacant shop fronts and commercial spaces in Newcastle’s CBD.

Please make sure you take the time to think through your ideas before putting a proposal to us. We are not in a position to help you to come up with ideas only to help make them happen!

NB Renew Newcastle manages the Proposal process but it is the Property owners who will make the final decision about what types of projects they want to take place in their premises.

How to apply

Read the FAQs thoroughly before submitting your Expression of Interest

1. SUBMIT THE APPLICATION FORM ONLINE

Complete an Expression of Interest Form online (the EoI form is not available at this time as we are not currently accepting new applications).

Applicants which best fit the call out will be invited for interview.

2.SEND US YOUR SUPPORT MATERIALS

Assessing your EOI

At the end of the Application Period, when we have received both your EoI and Support Materials we will make a Preliminary Assessment – to let you know if your project is suitable for the Renew Newcastle initiative.

We don’t decide on “successful” or “unsuccessful” projects at this stage – we can’t do that until there is an opportunity for a space, after we have fully assessed your EoI and have interviewed you.

But, there may be reasons why your project proposal isn’t eligible for Renew Newcastle – we will advise you if this is the case in the Preliminary Assessment.

If your project proposal is eligible for the initiative we will keep you on the EoI database and will get in touch should an opportunity for space arise.

At a later stage you may be invited for an interview to discuss your project in more detail. At a later stage you may need to provide more information or we may need to clarify some aspects of your proposal.

Unfortunately, we don’t have the resources to meet with every applicant to discuss their Expression of Interest, until potential opportunities arise. However, if you have questions which aren’t answered on the website, please do get in touch by email to application@renewnewcastle.org or phone Marni 0434 637 897.

3.APPLICATION INTERVIEWS

As properties become available, we will review our EoI database and assess projects that are suitable for those properties. It is at this stage that we will select the project proposals that are the best project fit for the property.

Some time may have passed since your Expression of Interest – we will contact you to see if you are still wanting to be considered, consider any changes to your Expression of Interest, and invite suitable Applicants to interview.

To understand how Renew Newcastle selects projects, read the FAQ’s.

The interview is to meet with you and discuss your project in more detail. The interview helps us guage suitability for the initiative. We may advise on ways that the project will need to be developed or shaped in order to be eligible for the initiative.

4.SHORTLIST

After all interviews and assesment for that property opportunity we will advise if we are including your project proposal in the Shortlist to the Property Owner.

We submit a shortlist of recommended projects to the Property Owner and they select the project which they would like to see happen in their property.

Information for Previous Applicants

Renew Newcastle has received hundreds of applications from creative Novocastrians over the past 3 years. So far we have been successful in placing more than 70 projects in over 40 properties, but we receive far more applications than we have space available to the initiative.

There are many great project ideas and project applicants that we have not been able to work with simply because we haven’t got access to enough properties (yet).

If you are a previous applicant who is eligible for the Renew Newcastle initiative and you are still interested in pursuing your project, then we encourage you to refresh your application to us each time we call for new proposals.

As some time may have passed since your last application, your ideas or circumstances may have changed. We need to know if your proposal is still current, if you are still interested in participating or if you have a new venture. You will need to submit using the online form.
